Good morning from the beautiful desert of Las Vegas! 😉
I can say ‘beautiful’ and ‘Las Vegas’ in the same sentence because when I walked the dogs this morning it was only 85 degrees. The sun was just coming up and the streets were still quiet. I love that time of day no matter where I am, but this morning was particularly wonderful.
I arrived in Las Vegas last night around dinner time and Kenzie and I promptly began making dinner (baked pasta w/ turkey meatballs and this amazzzzing sauce she picked up, along with a salad). Kenzie, her boyfriend and I enjoyed dinner while watching the season premier of Game of Thrones. We loved how the episode started, although we were all like, “WTF?” when it abruptly ended. I suppose that’s how GOT rolls … always keepin’ us on our toes!
After the show Kenzie and I stayed up and chatted for a bit. It’s been awhile since we’ve been able to spend some quality time together, and we both enjoyed it! The pugs also loved snuggling on their Aunty. 😉
Since Kenzie has to leave for work by 7:30, she generally wakes up at 4:45 to get her workout in. I really wanted to workout with her, but I have an aversion to getting up in the 4 o’clock hour. 😉 I agreed to wakeup at 5:00, and then we busted out this sweaty circuit together. It reminded me of the days we used to get up early and team teach spin class (any Vegas OGs remember those classes?! They were always packed full at 6am!) and then hit the weights.
For today’s workout, we did it as a non-stop circuit. Kenzie started on the bike while I started with thrusters, and we worked our way through, without any given rest, though it worked out that we were each able to catch our breath after the bent over rows since the spin bike took longest. I’m not sure if the workout was as hard as it felt this morning, or if it was just so damn hot in the garage that my body was working double time to keep cool! At any rate, I got some movement in before the drive today!
I’m happy to report that my drive yesterday was easier than I was anticipating! Generally speaking, the drive to/from Nevada/California is jam-packed with idiotic drivers who don’t understand that the left lane is supposed to be used for passing. While there were plenty of those yahoos on the road, the amount of cars was less than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise!
Toady’s drive should take just about six hours. I love watching the terrain transition from low desert to high desert as I drive north. Also, #ilovemountains. Since I’m having lunch in Vegas before I leave, I’m hoping to stop just once. It all goes as planned, I’ll roll into Layton around dinnertime and enjoy a couple hours of evening sunlight with the Eaton’s.
I’m off to stretch out, enjoy Legs up the Wall for a bit and then get ready to head out. Hope you’re having a wonderful start to your week!
Jess
